Friction technology is utilised for an extremely large number of different applications. SBS works purposefully to use the company's competences and know-how in new areas such as energy and industry.This primarily involves the wind turbine industry where SBS has developed brake pads for use in rotor braking systems.At the other end of the scale, SBS has developed brake pads for mountain bikes. Due to the very small dimensions and extreme temperatures developed during braking, these products make great demands on material and process technology.Special products also include brake linings for the US space agency, NASA. These linings will be incorporated into a recently developed spacecraft that will be used on NASA's planned Mars expeditions during the next decade.
